skpic delays

Delays are noted at the Regina airport. (CBC)

A small plane with two people on board skidded off the runway after landing in Regina Friday afternoon. No one was hurt but the airport temporarily switched to a secondary runway.

The skid off the runway happened just after 5 p.m. CST.

In a news release, the airport authority said the plane was a Metro-liner, configured to carry cargo.

Officials said both runways were back in operation around 7:30 p.m., however they added passengers should check their flights as some planes were delayed.

The Regina airport episode is very similar to an incident just one day earlier in Saskatoon, when an Air Canada Jazz flight from Calgary left the runway during taxiing after landing. No one was hurt in that incident.
