Conservative Senator Nicole Eaton touched off a cross-country debate recently when she suggested it's time to retire the beaver as our national symbol.

As a replacement for the animal she calls a "dentally defective rat," Eaton has suggested the polar bear.

But according to readers of CBC Saskatchewan's website, if the beaver had to go, the Canada goose would be a better choice.
