RCMP shoot, kill dog during arrest on Key First Nation
RCMP say dog shot after attacking service dog at a residence on Friday
RCMP say they shot and killed a dog during a man’s arrest at Key First Nation this weekend.
A man with warrants out for his arrest was hiding in a residence on the reserve, located about 80 km north of Yorkton, police said. Prince Albert and Kamsack RCMP arrested the man at the home on Friday night on number of charges, including aggravated assault.
Police said a dog from the community attacked the RCMP service dog during the course of the arrest, prompting the shooting. RCMP say they aren’t sure who owns it.
The suspect was also hurt during the arrest. RCMP would not disclose his injuries, but said he was not shot. He is now facing additional charges, including resisting arrest.
Police said the service dog was hurt by the attacking dog, but is doing okay.
