Police have released details of a sixth fatal accident from the Labour Day weekend, making it one of the deadliest in many years.

On Saturday night, a minivan with two occupants and a car with three people inside crashed at the junction of highways 16 and 303 east of Lloydminster.

Everyone was taken to hospital in Lloydminster. A 16-year-old girl who had been in the car died.

A 16-year-old boy, also from the car, was transported to the University of Alberta Hospital with critical injuries. An update on his condition wasn't immediately available Wednesday morning.

Police continue to investigate.

Police released information on four other fatal crashes between Friday and Monday. Details on a fifth were disclosed on Monday.
