RCMP officer injured in highway crash
For the second time in two days, an off-duty Saskatchewan RCMP officer has been involved in a car crash on Highway 11.
RCMP said the accident happened Thursday south of Lumsden at around 7 p.m. The southbound vehicle, a marked police car, entered the centre median and ran into a culvert. The crash left it damaged and undriveable.
The 40-year-old male officer, who was alone in the vehicle, suffered minor injuries.
Road and weather conditions at the time of the collision were good, the RCMP said.
The cause of the collision and the related circumstances are still under investigation, police said.
On Wednesday, off-duty RCMP officer Colin J. Moulton, 34, died in a collision involving his Ford Mustang convertible and a tractor-trailer on Highway 11 near Bethune. The truck driver wasn't injured.
The RCMP later said they learned Moulton had alcohol in his system and had been driving erratically before the crash.
