Queen City Ex hits Regina
The strawberry social, parade, fireworks kickoff today. Rides and exhibits open Wednesday.
For those who have been craving mini donuts all year and are anxious to satisfy their inner daredevil, the Queen City Ex is back in town.
An annual parade will be held tonight. It will start at Dewdney Avenue and Cameron Street and then end at the Tartan Curling Club on Broadway Avenue.
The night will be capped off with fireworks at sundown in Wascana Park.
This morning the festivities kicked off with a Strawberry Social in City Square Plaza.
Hot dogs and strawberry shortcake were available with proceeds going to the Special Olympics. Rory Allen was also on site entertaining from noon until 1:00 p.m. CST.
This year there are a number of new food options to choose from including wiggle sticks, bacon wrapped corn and corn dogs stuffed with french fries.
There are also two new rides this year. The Remix is a ride at the midway and the China Dragon will be added to Kiddie Land.
There will be performances at the new Grandstand throughout the week from musical acts including Bret Michaels Band, Marianas Trench, Down With Webster and Monster Truck.
Other new entertainment includes a contortionist show, a gymnastics show and on Saturday and Sunday, performances by Alex The Lion from the movie Madagascar.
The exhibitions and rides run until Sunday.
