Prince Albert police say they used a stun gun to control a man who became combative during his arrest Friday evening.

The man was later charged with domestic assault and assaulting a police officer.

Police were called to the scene before 9 p.m. CST Friday and concluded there was a fight between family members. A 29-year-old man was arrested, and police say he then became combative toward officers.

A Prince Albert Police news release says an officer then used a stun gun to control the man. The man was taken to hospital and examined by doctors, who said he was not hurt by the electric charge.

The use of the stun gun in his arrest will undergo a mandatory review.
