Saskatchewan Premier Brad Wall says he was caught off guard by Alberta Premier Alison Redford's resignation yesterday.

Redford left her position amid questions about her leadership and expenditures both from the opposition and from within her own caucus.

Wall said the pressures of the job can be tough. He wished Redford well.

"The job can take a toll on family and we did get to know each other. And I just wish the best for her," he said.

Redford's resignation is effective as of Sunday night but she will stay on as an MLA.
