Police make arrests over $100K jewel theft
It was a big jewel heist in a small city: Last month $100,000 worth of watches, gold chains, earrings and rings were stolen from a Humboldt jewelry story.
The valuables were taken duringan early morning break-in Aug. 21 at the store at a EighthAvenue strip mall.
Police have laid a charge against Stanley Paul Palaga, 39, of Regina. Palaga and afemale were arrested in Saskatoon on Monday.
About $60,000 worth of jewelry was recovered.
Palaga has been charged with possession of stolen property. According to the RCMP, the investigation is continuing and further charges are expected.
Charges against the female are pending.
Humboldt, population5,600, is about 113 kilometres east of Saskatoon.
