Police dive team pulls empty vehicle from Wascana Lake
No one was in the car when it entered the lake, police say
A specialized dive team has recovered an empty vehicle that was submerged in the waters of Wascana Lake in Regina.
Police were at the lake for most of the day Tuesday following a report of a vehicle in the water.
The call was made around 8:30 a.m. about indications that a vehicle must have entered the lake. Tracks through a section of Wascana Park led into the lake at its eastern edge, near Broad Street.
By late afternoon, a dive team was able to get to the vehicle. It was removed from the water and police said they are satisfied that no one was in the car when it entered lake.
They said they are now working to contact the registered owner to hopefully learn more about how the vehicle ended up where it did.
