A man is in hospital after his pickup truck slammed into an empty school bus Thursday that had been parked on the side of the Trans-Canada Highway west of Regina.
A witness told CBC News the truck was passing a car shortly before 7 a.m. CST when it spun out of control and hit the bus, which belongs to the Prairie South School Division in Moose Jaw.
The bus broke down Wednesday afternoon while bringing students back from a Mission Ridge ski trip.
Another bus took the students home and the empty bus stayed on the side of the road overnight, school division spokesperson Darby Briggs said.
"Our transportation staff were unable to find a tow truck so they moved the bus to the entrance of the grain scales," she said.
The driver of the pickup truck was taken to hospital in Regina. His condition wasn't immediately available.
