With passenger traffic increasing at the Regina International Airport, its CEO wants to see more flight options in and out of the city.
More than 1.18 million passengers went through Regina's airport in 2012 — nearly a four per cent increase from 2011.
CEO Jim Hunter said there needs to be more flight options to Calgary. He is also looking into flights to Los Angeles and Texas.
"It's an ongoing dialogue all the time between the airlines and the airports," said Hunter. "We want everything and they'll give us what they can."
The airport is finishing up renovations to accommodate the increased number of people passing through the facility.
The check-in area will be expanded and about 200 more seats will be added to the pre-boarding area beyond security.
An earlier version of this story incorrectly said there were nearly 4 per cent more passengers in 2011 compared to 2010. In fact, the years were 2012 and 2011. Also, the number of passengers in 2012 was more than 1.18 million, not 1.8 million.Sep 12, 2013 10:41 PM CT
