An Ontario man, 42, is facing charges in a Saskatchewan sexual assault and kidnapping case, almost four years after police began investigating.
A 22-year-old woman told police she had left a Regina nightclub on June 18, 2010, and while waiting for a cab, she was offered a ride by a trucker.
After she got into the semi-trailer, she wasn't allowed to leave, she said.
She alleges she was repeatedly sexually assaulted over the next few hours, before being allowed to get out near the Manitoba border.
Regina police distributed surveillance video photos of the suspect, as well as a composite sketch, but the investigation continued for years.
They say they got a break in their investigation thanks to a database of information comparing violent offences committed by suspects across the country.
A suspect was located in Thomasburg, Ont., and he was charged with kidnapping and sexual assault causing bodily harm.
He made his first appearance in Regina provincial court Wednesday morning.
