Sheryl Okemaysim, 36, is a 2016 Future 40 winner
Sheryl Okemaysim, 36, is a strong First Nations Woman from Beardy's & Okemasis First Nation. After spending years as a youth co-ordinator for her First Nation, Sheryl branched out as a coach of all sports.
Sheryl is six-time Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations (FSIN) soccer champion and an accomplished coach. Currently working for the RCMP, she has spent her adult life with a focus on family, sport, and youth.
Beyond being an athletics coach, Sheryl is the cofounder of the Native Sons Soccer Team. Since its creation in 2008, Sheryl has helped more than 200 First Nations and Métis youth from Saskatchewan participate in the world's largest youth soccer tournaments in the world.
Her youth teams have traveled to Sweden, Denmark, London, Manchester, Minneapolis, and California.
Sheryl preaches healthy living and has proven to be great role model for young First Nations and Métis girls everywhere.
