Saskatoon police are investigating after a two-vehicle crash in the city's downtown area involving a police cruiser Friday night.

Officers responded to the collision at the intersection of 23rd Street and 1st Avenue at 9:17 p.m. CST.

According to investigators the police car was travelling westbound on 23rd Street on its way to a call when it was struck by a vehicle travelling southbound on 1st Avenue.

Two officers were taken by ambulance to the Royal University Hospital to be examined.

No charges have been laid.
