Eateries in downtown Regina will be able to set up some more tables on patio spaces, after city council approved a new policy.
Council members unanimously adopted the policy Monday, which will allow temporary patios from April to October.
The move is being welcomed by downtown business owners, including O'Hanlon's on Scarth Street.
O'Hanlon's had been working on an enhanced patio space for two years and had just recently been given the go-ahead to proceed.
"The more people coming downtown the better," Niall O'Hanlon said Monday. "If downtown Regina becomes known for its patios, it's going to be good for everybody involved."
O'Hanlon's patio plan, which was a separate matter considered -- and approved -- by city officials last week, will see a permanent space created in front of the bar.
