Saskatoon police ended up in a struggle with a naked man after a chase along the Meewasin Trail Wednesday evening.

It began around 6:43 p.m. CST when a member of the public approached a police officer and told him there was a naked man under the Broadway Bridge.

The man ran away when the officer approached and a chase ensued.

When he caught up with the naked man, there was a struggle and more officers were required to subdue the man, police said. The first officer suffered minor injuries.

The man, 31, was taken to hospital for examination. Police said they suspect he has psychological issues.

Police said an investigation dealing with indecent exposure and assaulting a police officer will start once the suspect has received medical treatment.
