RCMP have charged a Saskatchewan man with impersonating an officer, following a fake traffic stop several days ago.

The charge relates to an incident that happened last Friday on Highway 10 near the Manitoba border.

Police allege a man stopped a vehicle while posing as an undercover RCMP officer.

They arrested a man from the Calder area a day later. Under the Criminal Code, the charge he's facing is technically known as "personating an officer".

He's scheduled to appear in Esterhazy provincial court in early August.

The RCMP said they seized clothing and an imitation police notebook with a crest which had allegedly been used in a previous incident.

They said a number of tips were received from the public that aided them in locating and arresting the man.

No other details were released.
