An RCMP officer is recovering after crashing and rolling a police vehicle on a rural road early Saturday morning, police say.
The crash, involving a marked RCMP pick-up truck, happened around 7:15 a.m. CST about eight kilometres east of Rose Valley, Sask.
Officers from the Mountie's own detachment responded to the crash and found their colleague trapped in the wreckage.
RCMP said the officer was safely taken out of the mangled truck by members of the Kelvington Fire and Rescue service.
The officer, who was not identified, was treated in hospital in Kelvington and released later in the day Saturday.
An accident reconstruction specialist was called to the scene to assist in the investigation of the crash.
Police noted that alcohol was not a factor in the crash and said the officer appeared to lose control of the vehicle.
A portion of the rural road was closed for the investigation for part of the day Saturday. The route was open again by Saturday evening.
Rose Valley is about 195 kilometres east of Saskatoon.
