The family of a young Saskatoon-area woman is grieving after she was killed on the side of the highway over the weekend.

Stacy Myrol, 30, was sitting in her car on the shoulder of Highway 60 near Pike Lake when she was rear-ended by a truck on Saturday night.

Myrol, a mother of two, died at the scene. At the time of the crash, she was using her cellphone to call for directions, her family told CBC News on Monday.

The other driver was taken to hospital and is being treated for unspecified injuries.

The highway — located southwest of Saskatoon — was closed for a number of hours as police investigated what happened.

Police have not said if charges are being considered.
