It's been a summer of heavy flooding in southern Saskatchewan — and more water woes could be on the way.

The Water Security Agency says heavy rain is expected in the areas southeast of Val Marie, Assiniboia, Regina and Estevan.

There could be as much as 50 to 80 millimetres of rain in those areas between tonight and Monday morning.

Depending on how much rain is received and where it falls, there could be localized flooding.

In late June and early July, some areas in the southeast received more than 100 mm, resulting in overloaded sewer systems, ruined basements and flooded cropland.

The province received hundreds of disaster assistance applications following the earlier floods.
