The termination "is related to a disgraceful conduct sanction ordered by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police," the notice said.

There were no details about the sanction.

Gherasim was appointed a member of the Order on Jan. 19, 2006, and was terminated on March 4, 2010.

His appointment citation said he was appointed "for contributing to the advancement of community-based policing in the Northwest Territories and for leadership in fugitive investigations in Canada and the province of Ontario."
