A Meadow Lake woman has given up her warm bed at home to sleep in kennels for a good cause.
Jillian Doucet, president of the Meadow Lake Humane Society, is sleeping over night at the shelter every night until she raises $5,000. She admits it's not the easiest place to sleep.
"There were probably a couple times last night they would get into little spurts of barking," Doucet said. "Then there was one cat that probably for an hour was straight meowing."
After three nights, Doucet has raised about $300. She has done this in the past and it's taken 12 days to hit the $5,000 mark. The money will be used for supplies and vet care for the animals.
People can follow Doucet's efforts on her blog, Extreme Sleepover: Shelter Edition - A Not-So-Silent Night.
