A Saskatoon man who stole a car with a 94-year-old woman in the passenger seat dropped her off at a shopping centre, and continued on his way, police reported Thursday.
The woman was not harmed.
The incident began around 10:45 a.m., local time Wednesday. According to police, the car was in a parking lot with the engine running in order to keep the air conditioning going.
The woman who owned the car, a 2009 Ford Edge, came back to the lot to discover it had been stolen. After a frantic few minutes, she called police to report what had happened.
Around 11:35 a.m., the 94-year-old woman was found at a shopping centre about two kilometres away.
Police were still looking for the car later Thursday. It has a Saskatchewan licence plate — 618 HDW.
The thief is described as a white man, about 40 years old.
