A man found dead near near a riverbank trail on New Year's Eve was not a victim of foul play, the Saskatoon Police Service says.

The body of the 25-year-old was found around noon between the 800 and 900 blocks of Saskatchewan Crescent East, south of the river.

At first it was considered a suspicious death, police said. However, after an autopsy was conducted, that was no longer the case.

Police did not say how the man died.

The man's name will not be released, police said.
