Man from Saltcoats, Sask., 38, charged with luring child, other sex offences
Alleged victim is 14 years old
A 38-year-old man from Saltcoats, Sask., has been charged with several sex offences involving a 14-year-old, including sexual interference and child luring.
Yorkton RCMP arrested Nathan Penner on Feb. 14 and charged him with obstructing justice, intimidation of a justice system participant, luring a child and breaching his previous conditions of release.
Penner had been previously charged last August with sexual interference and invitation to sexual touching on the 14-year-old.
At that time, after appearing before a justice of the peace, he was released on several conditions, including not contacting the alleged victim and not communicating with any other people under 16 unless in the presence of an adult.
Police allege Penner created a fake social media profile in January in order to make contact with the teen. Police say he was trying to get the teen to have the charges dropped.
Penner was in police custody earlier this week. He was scheduled to appear in provincial court on Feb. 20.
