Man drowns after snowmobile falls through ice, RCMP say

A man has drowned after his snowmobile broke through the ice on a lake near Grandmother's Bay, north of La Ronge.

A man has drowned after his snowmobile broke through the ice on a lake near Grandmother's Bay, north of La Ronge.

RCMP said officers and rescue crews were dispatched around 2 p.m. CST Tuesday to Otter lake, next to the community.

They said a man was in distress in the water and was unable to get out.

Police said they were continuing to investigate with assistance from an underwater recovery team.

Grandmother's Bay is a First Nation community about 100 kilometres north of La Ronge.
