A 39-year-old man is dead after being struck by a vehicle on the east end of Regina.

It happened around 2:35 a.m. CST on the 900 block of Victoria Avenue East, west of the Ring Road, Regina police said.

The man was crossing Victoria when he was struck by the vehicle, which was driven by a 19-year-old man.

When the ambulance arrived, the man was already dead.

The driver of the vehicle was taken to hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

In the aftermath of the crash, early morning traffic was disrupted along Victoria Avenue. The street was closed west of the Ring Road to Park Street.

Regina police said their investigation was ongoing but noted that alcohol consumption by the driver was not a factor in the collision.
