A man carrying pizzas was hit by a vehicle as he crossed Regina's busy Victoria Avenue Friday night, according to an eyewitness.

Police confirmed a 57-year-old pedestrian died in the accident which took place around 9:30 p.m. CST on Victoria Avenue at the intersection with Fleury Street.

"I seen some guy walking across the street holding pizzas," Daylon Pratt told CBC News. "[Then] I seen some SUV driving across — it's kinda hard to say. Well, he got hit and he flew about ten or five feet away."

Pratt said he rushed to the scene and called 911.

The name of the man who died was not released.

Police said they were still investigating the incident.
