Man, 64, killed in highway crash near Dafoe, Sask.
A 64-year-old man from Wynyard, Sask. has died after a crash between a semi trailer and car on Highway 16 Monday morning.
Emergency crews responded to the scene on the highway near Dafoe, about 165 kilometres southeast of Saskatoon, at about 10:40 a.m. CST.
The semi was on its side blocking the highway for some time.
The driver of the car, Kenny Popowich, was flown from the scene by air ambulance to a Regina hospital in serious condition.
He later died from his injuries.
The 42-year-old driver of the semi, who is from Winnipeg, was taken to a hospital in Lanigan and has since been released.
That portion of Highway 16 was closed for most of Monday morning and afternoon while RCMP investigated the collision.
