Emergency crews and crash investigators spent several hours at the scene of a fatal crash Tuesday night on Highway 39 west of Yellow Grass, Sask.
When crews arrived, they found a semi tractor-trailer had collided with a car.
A 20-year-old man from Lang, Sask., died of his injuries at the scene, despite the efforts of local paramedics and a STARS rescue helicopter crew. He was the driver of the car.
The driver of the semi, a 24-year-old South Carolina man, was examined at the scene by emergency staff and was released.
Traffic was diverted for several hours Tuesday night while police investigated.
RCMP have notified the man's next of kin, but are not releasing his name at this time.
Yellow Grass is about 90 km south of Regina.
