Accused murderer Kenneth Mackay says he was trying to act with compassion when he dragged his victim's body behind his truck with a chain.
Mackay is charged with first degree murder in the killing of Crystal Paskemin in December of 2000.
He admits he accidentally ran over Paskemin with his truck on an isolated gravel road east of Saskatoon.
He also admits tying a chain around Paskemin's ankle and dragging her body for nearly three kilometres behind his truck before leaving it in a ditch.
Mackay testified he was moving the body so it wouldn't be struck again by other vehicles.
He admitted he made a "poor choice" in the method that used to move the body. His testimony will continue on Monday.
