Two Lloydminster schools were closed Friday after a threat was made, the Lloydminster Catholic School Division announced on its Facebook page.

The threat was made to Holy Rosary High School.

As a precautionary measure, nearby Ecole St. Thomas was closed as well due to its proximity to Holy Rosary.

There are about 900 students at Holy Rosary and 500 at St. Thomas who are affected by the closure.

Parents of students are advised to keep their children at home.

A spokesperson for the school division said they hope to get the situation resolved as quickly as possible, and declined further comment.

RCMP are investigating.
