U of S Huskies win 1st CIS women's basketball national championship
The team clinched the win against the Ryerson Rams 85-71
The University of Saskatchewan Huskies women's basketball team captured its first national title, taking down the Ryerson Rams from Toronto.
The team clinched the win with a final score of 85-71 in the Canadian Interuniversity Sports championship game Sunday in Fredericton, N.B.
With emotions running high after the game, Thomaidis said it was the only thing missing from her career.
"It's something these girls are going to remember for the rest of their life for sure," she added. "[It's] something our program and our school is going to take a lot of pride in forever."
The team plans to hold a media conference at the airport in Saskatoon Monday night, when they return from Fredericton.
