Head-on crash leaves 1 dead east of Saskatoon
Officials advise caution on icy roads
Emergency crews in Saskatoon are advising caution on highways in the area after responding to a head-on crash that left one person dead early Wednesday night.
Around 7 p.m., rescue crews were dispatched to a crash on Highway 5, east of Saskatoon, near the intersection with Highway 41.
They found a smashed half-ton truck in the west bound lane and a severely damaged mini-van in the north ditch.
The lone male in the mini-van had died in the crash, while three people in the truck were taken to hospital.
The full extent of their injuries was not immediately known, but they were not considered life-threatening.
No other information about the crash was available, although motorists were advised to slow down as the emergency crews noted several icy patches on the highway, due to blowing snow.
