Regina fire crews were fighting a potentially dangerous blaze at an industrial facility Monday morning.

The fire broke out around 7 a.m. CST at K & D Truck Parts on Fleet Street, just north of the city dump.

The company sells truck parts and services large trucks, and another company shares the same building.

A semi cab unit was on fire and some tanker trucks were parked outside.

"Fortunately the building is partitioned off, so it did allow for the fire to be contained," said acting fire chief Gerard Kay.

"Unfortunately it did get into the roof system and that's what we're struggling with right now."

Heavy smoke was pouring out of the building when fire crews arrived. At around 8 a.m., the metal building was starting to buckle, and it was not clear if it was safe for fire crews to go back inside.

Fire officials said there was at least one acetylene tank inside the building.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
