Regina police are investigating after a fierce blaze swept through some businesses in Regina's industrial area Monday morning.

The fire broke out at around 2:40 a.m. CST in the 1500 block of McAra Street on the city's east side.

When crews arrived, flames were visible. Eventually, they engulfed the property.

Investigators believe the fire began in a flooring business at 1526 McAra.

A woodworking business and an eavestrough company were also hit by the fire.

It took several hours to put out the fire. At one point the roof started to buckle.

Police are treating the blaze as suspicious because the back door was open and some tools had been taken and were strewn around the alley.

Firefighters were still pouring water on stubborn hot spots at 7 a.m.
