Fire engulfs home, garage in early morning blaze in Regina

A Regina man escaped with his life, but neighbours say he was not able to take any belongings as fire raced through his home in east Regina, Tuesday morning.

A Regina man escaped with his life, but neighbours say he was not able to take any belongings as fire raced through his home in east Regina, Tuesday morning.

Firefighters got the call around 3:20 a.m. CST, and responded to a home on Sunninghill Cres. on the city’s east side. 

According to a spokesperson for Regina Fire and Protective Services, when crews arrived the garage and roof were fully engulfed in flames. One man was in the home at the time. He was able to get out safely.

Neighbours tell CBC News the man was not able to save any of his belongings.

Crews were still on scene hours later, putting out hot spots as investigators looked over the scene.

There was some damage to a neighbouring home.

Crews are still investigating the cause of the blaze, but say they are confident it started in the garage.
