Fire crews battled a stubborn blaze at a Regina motel early Friday morning.

The alarms came in around 4 a.m. CST and crews were still working on the fire two hours later.

The blaze, at 3915 Albert Street, forced the closure of the major Albert St. & Parliament Ave. intersection.

Firefighters said the fire broke out on the ground floor of the two-storey building. The motel is slated for demolition and crews did not find any people inside.

Police cautioned drivers to expect delays and detours around the area during Friday morning's rush hour.
