Former Saskatchewan Roughriders star Weston Dressler has been released by the Kansas City chiefs.
The 29-year-old receiver left this past off-season for a chance at an NFL spot.
He dressed for three pre-season games with the Chiefs this summer.
However this morning he is listed in the team's first round of 11 cuts. The team was required to trim its roster to 78 players by Tuesday's NFL deadline.
But what is the the Chiefs' loss could be the CFL's gain. As soon as the news of Dressler's cut was released, fans were speculating on social media that it could open the door to his return to the Riders or another Canadian team.
Meanwhile, Dressler wasn't the only ex-star Rider in the NFL who had a bad weekend.
Running back Kory Sheets was off the Oakland Raiders roster after suffering a season-ending Achilles tendon injury.
