A former Regina teacher, accused of having a sexual encounter with a student in a mall parking lot, is waiting to learn if she will ever be permitted to teach again.

Details of the alleged encounter were provided during a discipline hearing Monday.

According to information from the Regina Public School Board, a student at Balfour High School said teacher Christene Laurans sent the boy a text, asking to meet in a parking lot.

A second encounter, the next day, also had the two meeting in a parking lot. The teen told a school board official that Laurans was topless during that encounter and performed oral sex on him.

She has since been fired.

A discipline committee of the Saskatchewan Teachers Federation is considering whether to ask the province to cancel her teacher's certificate.

The committee has reserved its decision.
