A Saskatchewan wakeboarder has won a major Canadian wakeboarding competition in Ontario.

Over the weekend, Estevan's Taylor Johnson, 18, won Wakestock in Collingwood in the women's open division.

Johnson credits the tight-knit wakeboarding community in Saskatchewan for her win.

"[Because] there's not that many lakes, we all just get out," she said. "All the wakeboarders in Saskatchewan are all really good friends and we all help each other out. We just feed off each other. We all live relatively close."

Johnson will be boarding at Boundary Dam this week and preparing for nationals in Quebec near the end of the month.
