One woman has died in an early morning apartment fire in Saskatoon.
Fire crews were called to Keevil Crescent at about 1:30 a.m. CST. When they got there, people were evacuating a three-storey building.
Smoke was found on the second floor of the apartment building — officials said it was coming past the door of one of the apartments into the hallway.
When crews went into the apartment it was fully charged with thick, black smoke.
While searching the home, firefighters found a woman inside. She was taken to an ambulance where she was pronounced dead.
Fire officials said she was about 70 years old. Her name has not been released.
The fire was under control in about 25 minutes.
A quality air test has been done in the building and fire officials said it is safe for all residents to return back to their apartments.
Fire investigators said the fire was accidental.
Damage from the fire is estimated to be about $500,000.
