Snow shovels

Planning to put away your snow shovel for the season? Hold that thought.

Environment Canada says rain and lots of snow are on the way for parts of Saskatchewan this weekend.

For Regina, Saskatoon and a number of other communities, rain is expected to start Friday afternoon and by evening it will turn to snow.

Some areas, particularly east-central Saskatchewan, could see 10 to 15 centimetres.

Environment Canada has already issued snowfall warnings for 14 communities.

CBC Saskatchewan weather specialist Farah Singh says we can thank our neighbour to the west for the weather.

A weather system over north-central Alberta is moving in.

In Saskatchewan it will produce a messy mix of snow and rain.

"A cold northerly flow overnight will keep most of the precipitation as snow but warm air may linger longer over central and southern sections of Saskatchewan which may delay the precipitation phase to change over from rain to snow," Singh added.
