Some spilled diesel fuel ended up in the Regina sewer system Thursday after a fork lift punctured a tank of fuel on a truck.

It happened about 10 a.m. in the parking lot of a Roofmart store on the 600 block of Dewdney Avenue.

The fire department's hazardous materials unit raced to a scene to stop the fuel from pouring out and to start the cleanup.
It turns out 180 litres — roughly enough to fill a bathtub — were spilled.

About 40 litres went down a drain into the storm sewer.

Environmental crews have been called in to clean up the scene.
