Balcarres, sk

Three people, a 44-year-old woman, a 10-year-old girl and a 6-year-old boy, are dead following a crash on Highway 10, east of Fort Qu'Appelle, Sask., RCMP say.

According to RCMP, the crash involved two vehicles and took place around 11 a.m. CST Saturday about eight kilometres east of Fort Qu'Appelle.

RCMP said the three who died were all passengers in one of the vehicles involved.

The driver of their vehicle was injured and needed medical treatment, police said.

They said the driver of the second vehicle was not hurt, but a passenger did require medical treatment.

Officers have been on the scene investigating since the time of the crash.

No names were released and no information was provided about the circumstances of the crash.

Second crash, 1 hour later

RCMP were also called to the scene of a second crash, also on Highway 10, around noon.

That crash also involved two vehicles and police said several people were injured.

Traffic has been closed, in both directions, on Highway 10 from just east of Fort Qu'Appelle and west of Balcarres.

Motorists can detour around the closure using Highway 35, then Highway 56, and return via Highway 10 at Lebret.

Fort Qu'Appelle is about 70 kilometres northeast of Regina.
