Two people are dead and three others, including the driver, are in serious condition following a single-car accident near the Crackling River bridge on Highway 55, RCMP reported Sunday.

Units from the Carrot River and Nipawin detachments as well as RCMP Saskatoon Traffic Services were called just after midnight when the car rolled over, the Mounties said in a news release.

The accident occurred 1.5 kilometres west of the bridge on Highway 55, near the Red Earth First Nation.   There were five occupants in the vehicle at the time of the accident; two were pronounced deceased at the scene.   The cause of the accident is not known at this time. The names of the victims are being withheld while the police investigation continues.
