Crash into overpass causes $500,000 in damage, police say
A semi-trailer truck has crashed into an overpass on the northern edge of Moose Jaw, causing an estimated $500,000 in damage, police say.
The crash happened around 4:30 p.m. CST on Tuesday.
Police said the semi was eastbound on the Trans-Canada Highway and crashed into the overpass at Main Street North.
There were no other vehicles involved in the crash and there was no immediate word on injuries.
Police added the driver had been charged with driving without due care and attention.
A passerby noticed the crash and observed, through Twitter, that Moose Jaw was becoming notorious for trucks smashing into overpasses.
"I'm thinking [Moose Jaw] might be close to setting a world record for overpass strikes," Lee Guse commented. Guse also posted a picture of the wreckage using the social media tool.
