A head-on accident east of Regina Sunday has claimed the life of a 20-year-old man.

The man was the driver and lone occupant of a van that slammed into a pickup truck on Highway 10 at around 1:43 a.m., the RCMP said.

The three people in the pickup — two men aged 19 and 25, and a woman, 19 — were injured. They're still in hospital, but are expected to recover from their injuries, the RCMP said.

The accident happened on Highway 10 about five kilometres northeast of Balgonie. Alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the crash, the RCMP said.

Police haven't released the name of the man who died.
