Corman Park Police Chief fired
Police Commissioners Board lawyer says Boechler refused meeting with investigators
Ron Boechler, the chief of police for the Rural Municipality of Corman Park, was fired from his position Tuesday.
Boechler had been chief since 2010. But he had been off work since February for medical reasons and then on paid leave since April.
He's been the subject of an investigation by the Prince Albert Police Service since June, which was appointed as the outside agency to look into a complaint against the RM's top cop.
Mitch Holash is lawyer for the RM's board of police commissioners.
He says the board decided to fire Boechler with cause after he refused to be interviewed by investigators in connection with the complaint. Holash could not elaborate on the nature of the complaint against Boechler, but he said RM officials would give more detail when the investigation is done.
He did not know when that would happen.
The Corman Park Police Commission is made up of five members — three RM councillors and two RM residents appointed to the board by council members.
